Summer Transportation to Camp

JCA Shalom offers our campers several ways to get to camp at the beginning of each session! We want to make it as simple as possible for our camp families to drop off their children at our pick-up locations. Whether you live in the Valley, the City, in Long Beach, Orange County, San Diego, or in another state, we provide excellent transportation to camp. Our camp families are always welcome to drop their camper off at camp. At the end of the session, all campers are picked up AT CAMP at 11 a.m. except for those campers traveling to Long Beach, San Diego or the airport.

Airport

Also, during the summer, we provide transportation to and from the Los Angeles and Burbank airports. We research the best flights for your camper to take that are in line with our summer camp schedule and affordable to you. This way it is easy for you to book the ticket. We will have someone from our summer staff meet your camper at the gate. Once our campers arrive, they will call home to let you know that they made it safely to the airport. Once they arrive to camp, they will call again so you know they are at camp.

Health and Safety
Health and safety are primary concerns at Camp JCA Shalom. A registered nurse is in residence at camp and a physician is on call at all times. All aquatic activities are conducted under the auspices of staff certified by the American Red Cross.
Meals
Camp JCA Shalom provides three nutritionally approved meals per day. All facilities and food products are coordinated under consultation by local Kashruth authorities. Vegetarian, vegan and other special dietary meals are also available.
Camperships, payment plans and Jewish free loans
Through the generosity of the Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles and individual donors, we have a financial assistance program, as well as interest-free payment plans. Thanks to the Morris Doberne Camper Experience Loan Fund, the Jewish Free Loan Association of the Jewish Federation arranges interest-free loans for families with children ages eight and older. Please contact us for more information on all these payment programs.
Billing
Payment in full is due April 3, 2013, unless you have arranged a Campership or Payment plan. In fairness to the many families on the Waiting List, you must pay on time or your space will go to the next child on the Waiting List.
Camp JCA Shalom Summer 2013 Campership Fund
Camp Families will also be asked to make a voluntary contribution to the Campership Fund. This fund enables children needing financial assistance to afford this extraordinary Jewish camping experience. This opportunity appears on the enrollment form and will appear on your bill.
Marla Bennett Garden Fund
On July 31, 2002, Camp JCA Shalom lost a member of its family. Marla Bennett was one of the American victims in the bombing of the Hebrew University cafeteria. Marla grew up at Camp JCA Shalom as a camper, CIT, counselor, unit head, and during Summer 2001 she was the program director. During her time here at Camp JCA Shalom, she touched the lives of thousands of campers and staff. In Marla's memory, we have established the Marla Bennett Garden Fund. On the Summer 2010 application form, there is an opportunity to honor Marla's memory with your contribution.
